Florence M. Porter

Florence M. Porter, 91, of Wildwood, FL, passed away January 5, 2019 in Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 2, 1927 in Bayonne, NJ. She was the daughter of Frederick and Mildred Antcliff. She was the wife of the late Rev. Douglas E. Porter.

Florence graduated in 1945 from Bayonne High School. She received an Associates degree in business from Rutgers University in 1949. She also graduated with a Theology and Christian Education Associates degree from Houghton College of New York State in 1951.

She was a housewife and church secretary. She enjoyed trips to the beach, travel, reading, music, attending church services and Bible study. In her early years she worked for Billy Graham Ministries, where she met her husband and together, they ministered for the Free Methodist Church to a number of Churches from Midwest, to the New England area, Louisiana and Florida.

Florence was a member National Honor Society in high school. In her later years became member of Mayflower Society. She was member of Wildwood United Methodist Church.

Florence is survived by her sister, Joan Boehm of NJ; nieces, Patty Powell of FL, Susan Woodward and Teresa Shaffer of NJ, a nephew, Steven Boehm of NJ. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas and brother, Frederick Antcliff.

Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m, Friday, January 11, 2019 in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Florida National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Wildwood United Methodist Church, 300 Mason St, Wildwood, FL 34785.
