A Land O’ Lakes woman claimed a $1 million lottery prize on Monday.

Patricia Ball, 60, of Land O’ Lakes, claimed the top prize in the $5 Holiday Bonus Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $710,000.

Ball purchased her winning ticket from a 7-Eleven located at 2400 Land O’ Lakes Boulevard. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The Holiday Bonus game offers more than $54.5 million in prizes, including six top prizes of $1 million. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.05.

Scratch-Offs, considered an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, has generated more than $871 million for the education in the Sunshine State and comprises about 69 percent of ticket sales.

The Florida Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education and sent more than 808,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The agency reinvests 97 percent of its revenue back into Florida’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Florida retailers and contributions to education.

Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $61.2 billion in prizes and made more than 2,000 people millionaires. For more information, visit www.flalottery.com.
