Richard “Dick” Loehr, 88, of The Villages, FL, passed away 0n December 5, 2018. He was born in Dalton Massachusetts on December 12, 1929.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean Loehr, his children Sharon Lapan of Hadley MA, her husband Richard Lapan and Gary Loehr of Middletown, DE, his wife Debra Loehr and his sister Eileen Eberhard. He has 5 grandchildren, Jenna, Alyssa and Kaylin Lapan and Ashley and Chris Loehr.
Dick was an Army veteran, serving in a SCARWAF Special Category Army With Air Force unit from 1955 – 1957. He was employed, as a carpenter, by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield MA for 25 years. He lived in Dalton MA, in a home he built himself, until retiring to The Villages in 1992. He enjoyed travel, gardening, golf, pickleball and bocce. As an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, Dick especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox win this year’s World Series.
A Mass of Christian Burial for friends and family will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lady Lake on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.
