A convicted felon was arrested after he was found with a stun gun, counterfeit money and drugs after a traffic stop near the Cracker Barrel on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.
Joshua Edwards, 34, of Lady Lake, was a passenger in a 2000 Dodge Neon that was pulled over at 10:35 p.m. Thursday after a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed the car’s tag had expired in 2011.
A stun gun was found in a “cubby hole” of the passenger-side door where Edwards had been seated. He was also found to be in possession of $55 in currency that was found to be counterfeit. Methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia found in the car also were determined to be Edwards’, according to an arrest report.
Edwards has 22 felony convictions, the most recent being a felony armed burglary in 2016 in Citrus County.
He was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, fraud, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $78,000 bond.
