CDD supervisors discuss persistent parking problems in Jasper Villas

Community Development District 5 supervisors see no end in sight to persistent parking problems in the Jasper Villas.

CDD 5 Chairman Walter Martin, who lives in the Jasper Villas, said Friday he continues to hear complaints from his fellow residents.

“It’s been a growing concern in the Jasper Villas,” Martin told his fellow supervisors.

He said the problem can be attributed to residents who have two or three cars. They park those extra vehicles in guest parking spots.

“I hear they monopolize those spots almost 365 days per year,” said CDD 5 Supervisor Gerald Ferlisi.

Earlier this year, CDD 5 voted to put up informational signs in an attempt to dissuade owners from using the parking spots, intended for use by guests.

Martin wondered if language on signs – “owners no overnight parking” – includes renters.

“Are renters considered owners?” Martin asked.

District Counsel Valerie Fuchs said she would research the matter and report back at a future meeting.

“I am pessimistic about a solution, as this has been going on for many years,” Martin said.
