Woman arrested after alleged theft of sandals at Goodwill Superstore

A woman was arrested after the alleged theft of a pair of men’s sandals at the Goodwill Superstore in Oxford.

Maribel Aguirre Arellano, 51, of Summerfield, entered the store at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, selected a pair of men’s sandals and put them in her handbag, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. She also picked up two white-and-yellow artificial flowers before attempting to leave the store. She was confronted outside by Goodwill’s loss prevention officer.

The items had a total value of $17.62.

Arellano was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $500 bond.
