The Republican Federated Women of The Villages on Friday evening hosted Casey DeSantis, wife of gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis, and Attorney General candidate Ashley Moody.
Mrs. DeSantis regaled the audience of nearly 100 Republican women with details from the campaign trail.
She praised her mother-in-law, who is helping her with her two young children during the campaign. Both she and her husband are criss-crossing the state meeting with groups of citizens. She emphasized how difficult raising two small children can be while helping run her husband’s campaign. She told the audience how she got so busy that she inadvertently placed a tube of diaper preparation next to her husband’s toothbrush. She recounted her husband’s reaction to brushing his teeth with the preparation.
Mrs. DeSantis spoke at some length regarding her husband’s plans for education. She says that he is planning to strengthen vocational education. She also emphasized his strong position regarding supporting law enforcement.
After Mrs. DeSantis finished her presentation, Ashley Moody addressed the audience. She stressed her experience as a former U.S. attorney, civil litigator and county judge. She pointed out that her opponent has never tried a case. She said that she has the support and endorsement of more than 90 percent of the county sheriffs in Florida.
Both women stressed the importance of getting Republicans out to vote this election. They noted that the Democratic Party is motivated and the women said they would appreciate all the help they can get from The Villages Republican voters.
After the guests finished their presentation, the president of the Villages High School Republicans, Kiera Rappa, gave a spirited speech on the U.S. Constitution. Her speech was applauded by the group.
