Man with lengthy criminal history jailed after traffic stop at Walgreens in The Villages

A man with a lengthy criminal history was arrested Thursday night after a traffic stop at a Walgreens in The Villages.

Renico Jerome Guyton, 39, of Lady Lake, had been driving at 8:45 p.m. in the area of County Road 466 and U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when he was recognized by a Lady Lake police officer who was aware that Guyton’s driver’s license was suspended. A traffic stop was initiated at the Walgreens at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Rolling Acres Road.

Guyton, who has been classified as a habitual offender, was arrested for driving on a suspended license. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.

Last year, Guyton was arrested after a 9mm pistol was found in the glove compartment of a car he was driving.

In 2016, he was arrested in Lake County on a charge of providing a false identity to a law enforcement officer. In 2014, he was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of crack cocaine.
