The female inmate who died at the Marion County Jail on Friday night has been identified.
Lorraine Gardner, 24, of Ocala, was found unresponsive and efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead a short time later, a sheriff’s office report states.
Gardner had been arrested July 2 and was charged with possession of methamphetamine and probation violations for possession of MDMA and possession of cocaine. She also had been arrested on April 30 and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
The investigation into her death is continuing, the report says.
