Villager sentenced in DUI arrest at roundabout on Buena Vista Boulevard

William Patrick Griffin

A Villager has been sentenced after driving his Lincoln Town Car earlier this year into the center of a roundabout on Buena Vista Boulevard.

William Patrick Griffin, 75, who lives in the Rainey Villas, had been driving the green 1997 Lincoln Town Car at 11:43 p.m. April 28 and attempting to negotiate the roundabout at Buena Vista Boulevard and Palmer Way, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. His vehicle traveled into the median of the roundabout, damaging sprinkler equipment and landscaping.

He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.

This past week in Sumter County Court, a judgment of guilt was formally entered in the case.

Griffin has been placed on probation for one year and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.
