A convicted felon and a female companion were arrested after a traffic stop near Brownwood Paddock Square.
Roddrick Jovon Anthony, 24, of Bronson, had been driving a green Toyota Corolla at about 10 p.m. Thursday on State Road 44 when he was pulled over at Meggison Road for a non-functioning taglight, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
As a police officer approached the vehicle, he detected the aroma of marijuana. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle, confirming the officer’s suspicion.
A fully loaded .38-caliber revolver was found under the driver’s seat. The serial number had been sanded off the weapon.
Anthony had been convicted in 2013 of a burglary in Gainesville.
Traveling with him was 25-year-old Brittany Rena Martin of Summerfield who attempted to give police a false name. She was found to be in possession of .4 grams of marijuana.
Both were taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
