A Village of Belvedere couple’s son was arrested after a road rage incident involving a 16-year-old Sunday night on County Road 466.
The 16-year-old had been at the wheel of a white Ford F-150 involved in a minor crash with a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Bryan Edward Sharp at 8:35 p.m. at County Road 466 and Tatonka Terrace, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The 16-year-old stayed in his vehicle and Sharp walked up to the driver’s side window. The teen said Sharp was upset and said he had just purchased the vehicle a week earlier. He said Sharp, who is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 270 pounds, swung his fist through the window and struck him in the shoulder. A witness in the vehicle with the teen, described Sharp as “irate.” The witness said Sharp yelled at the teen and punched him through the window.
Sharp said he was trying to “scare” the teen by pointing his finger at him. He denied touching the teen.
Sharp was arrested on a felony charge of burglary with assault or battery. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $5,000 bond.
