A Village of Santo Domingo man was arrested after allegedly knocking a woman onto a kitchen counter and then slapping her.

The woman told Sumter County sheriff’s deputies that on Tuesday afternoon 35-year-old Daniel Ryan Pettit pushed her, causing her to hit her head on a kitchen counter at a residence at 1822 Cordero Court, according to an arrest report. After she fell to the floor, Pettit began to slap her.

The report indicated Pettit’s “story changed multiple times.” It also noted he had suffered a contusion above his eye.

He was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
