A 76-year-old Villager was arrested Wednesday night after multiple 911 calls were received from his home in the Village of Glenbrook.
Ronnie Thea Wheeler allegedly dialed 911 and made false claims of an emergency at his home on Bloomington Place.
Wheeler told a deputy after an earlier 911 call that he had trouble dialing out and needed a deputy to show him how. Wheeler was told it was not necessary to dial 911 for non-emergency issues and he was given the non-emergency number. After multiple calls, Wheeler was warned that it was against the law to misuse 911.
At 9:08 p.m., another 911 hangup call was received from Wheeler’s home and a deputy responded to the location.
He was asked why he kept calling 911.
“Just to piss you guys off,” Wheeler replied, according to the arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Wheeler was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of misuse of 911 and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $500.
