Man who passed patrol car, circumvented traffic arrested on charge of reckless driving

A 48-year-old man whose SUV passed a police officer and then tried to circumvent traffic by passing on the right-hand shoulder and through a ditch landed behind bars.

Thomas Andrew Fry of Leesburg had been traveling at 11:30 a.m. June 21 on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 near Griffin View Drive when he passed a Lady Lake Police Department patrol car and was clocked traveling 64 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. He then circumvented traffic and and a traffic control device, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

He was arrested on a charge of reckless driving and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $500 bond.
