An estranged husband was arrested after he allegedly stole his wife’s cell phone from her mother’s home.

Jeffrey Adam Harvey, 25, of Summerfield, is facing charges of burglary and grand theft following his arrest Tuesday by Wildwood police.

The mother called police shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday to report that she believed Harvey had broken into her home on Fourth Avenue in Wildwood and taken her daughter’s cell phone. The mother told police she had received a message from her daughter’s friend indicating she had received a call from the daughter’s phone from Harvey. The friend was concerned for the daughter’s safety. As the mother was driving to work, she spotted Harvey walking down Fourth Avenue and she called 911. Harvey walked up to the mother, handed her the phone and fled on foot when police arrived. He was quickly apprehended.

The couple has been separated for more than a year and do not share a calling plan, the arrest report noted.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $17,000 bond.
