A woman who had been spotted driving in the wrong direction in The Villages was arrested after a night of drinking at City Fire.
Kaitlyn Marie Ytsma, 24, of Lady Lake, had been spotted driving in the wrong direction at about 3 a.m. Saturday on Odell Circle at the entrance to the Village of Hadley, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
During a traffic stop, Ytsma was asked if she had been drinking, to which she replied, “I had three beers earlier at City Fire.” She later admitted she’d also had a Green Tea Shot.
She failed field sobriety exercises and later provided breath samples that registered .172 and .169 blood alcohol content. During an inventory of her vehicle, which was being towed from the scene, marijuana was discovered. She was asked if she had used marijuana in the past 24 hours and Ytsma said she had smoked two marijuana joints at about 9 a.m. Friday, the arrest report indicated. She also said she had taken the pain killer Tramadol at about 10 p.m. Friday.
The deputy had also discovered that Ytsma’s driver’s license had been suspended on Jan. 11.
She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. She was also issued a traffic citation for driving while license suspended.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
