Soil boring samples to be taken to explore sagging problem at North Morse Gate

Borings set to take place this week may help to determine the status of the wall at the North Morse Boulevard gate off U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

It appears the wall is sagging, Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management told members of the Amenity Authority Committee this past week.

Borings already taken 10 feet deep, found what you might expect in Florida – loose soil and loose sandy clay, Wartinbee said.

This week rigs will be set up and will be taking samples as far as 100 feet down.

Wartinbee said they will be looking for a “geological anomaly.”

A “worst case scenario” would be that the District would have to tear down 90 percent of that wall and rebuilt it, he said.
