A 25-year-old Belleview woman was arrested after allegedly striking a fellow motorist’s vehicle in a road rage incident on U.S. 301.

Terryn Louise Gibbons switched lanes in front of another vehicle while driving northbound on U.S. 301 on Sunday afternoon, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The woman driving the other vehicle waved her hands at Gibbons who then proceeded to make a vulgar gesture in return. When both vehicles stopped at a red light at U.S. 301 and County Road 44A, Gibbons got out of her vehicle and used an aluminum baseball bat to strike the passenger-side rear wheel well of the other woman’s vehicle, the arrest report indicated. Damage is estimated at $2,500.

Gibbons was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of criminal mischief. She surrendered the baseball bat to police.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
