A 74-year-old Village of Mallory Square man has been sentenced in an altercation with a woman in December at his home.

The victim had been interviewed after the altercation while she was being treated for her injuries at  The Villages Regional Hospital.

She had claimed that Robert Henry Pezold had struck her in the breast with a closed fist. She said she had knocked over a couple of wine glasses in the hallway and Pezold came out of his bedroom looking angry, according to an arrest report from the sheriff’s office. As he was trying to close the door, she tried to hold the door open in an attempt to talk to him. He then punched her in the breast, the report indicated. He told a deputy that she had poked a finger at him and tried to push her way into his bedroom, the report indicated.

On Jan. 19 in Sumter County Court, Pezold entered a plea of no contest to a charge of domestic battery. He has been sentenced to one year of probation.
