Lady Lake staff honor commissioners with plaques commemorating leadership

During Monday’s Lady Lake Commission meeting, town staff surprised the commissioners with a special gift in recognition of their service to the city of Lady Lake.

“The [town] employees wanted you to know how much they appreciate everything you do for them, so they pitched in with their own money to have these plaques made for you,” said Kollgaard.

The plaques were presented to each commissioner individually and read, “In recognition and appreciation of the leadership and support you provide to the town employees.”

“Thank you so much, I’m overwhelmed,” said Commissioner Paul Hannan in reaction to the unexpected plaque.

“A commissioner’s job is not an easy one … one of the most important qualities that a commissioner can have is to care about their residents and their employees, and you guys do that. It’s evident in every decision,” said Kollgaard about the years of service rendered by the commissioners.

“You can only be a good commissioner if you’ve got good people under you,” said Commissioner Dan Vincent.
