Recreation Plantation woman arrested after allegedly attempting to steal items from Belk

A 60-year-old Recreation Plantation woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly attempted to take items from Belk in The Villages without paying for them.

Deborah L. Shepherd is facing her third local arrest on a charge of retail theft. She was taken into custody by Lady Lake police.

She entered the store at La Plaza Grande shopping plaza on Bichara Boulevard and attempted to leave with fragrances and a makeup bag without paying for them, according to an arrest report.

She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.

The arrest report indicated she had been convicted of theft in 2015 in Ohio.
