A 64-year-old Village of Calumet Grove man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after he apparently got misdirected in his golf cart.

John Bernard Collum had been driving his 2010 Yamaha golf cart shortly after midnight on Oct. 27 on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Old Vineyard Road in Lady Lake when he was spotted by a Lady Lake police officer. An arrest report indicated that Collum’s golf cart was “well outside any golf cart permitted area.”

Collum told a police officer he was coming from Spanish Springs Town Square.

Column said he had been on “the road that would take me to the road I live on.”

He failed field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
