Ocala man arrested after allegedly attempting to steal polo shirts, jeans at Belk

A 29-year-old Ocala man was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly attempted to steal polo shirts and jeans from Belk in La Plaza Grande in The Villages.

Andrew Brian Boyett entered the store shortly before 8 p.m. and selected three polo shirts and four pair of jeans. He took them into a fitting room where he remained for 20 minutes, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A loss prevention office approached Boyett outside the store and Boyett attempted to flee. The loss prevention officer and another store employee were able to hold Boyett until police arrived.

The items Boyett were attempting to take were valued at $322.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $3,000 bond.
