CDD 5 supervisors meet with residents and talk about strength of their district

Residents of Community Development District 5 turned out Thursday night at Laurel Manor Recreation Center for a town hall meeting.

The event was presented by the five elected supervisors in CDD 5 – Walter Martin, Gerald Ferlisi, Jerry Knoll, Gary Kadow and Chuck Wildzunas. District Manager Janet Tutt and District staffers were also on hand for the event.

CDD 5 is made up of Ashland, Belvedere, Bonnybook, Bridgeport at Lake Miona, Liberty Park, Lynnhaven, Poinciana, Sunset Pointe and Winifred.

“One of the most important things we do is hold the line on your assessments,” Martin told the audience.

For the current fiscal year, residents of CDD 5 are enjoying a 3 percent decrease of their assessments.

Most of the villa roads in CDD 5 are being resurfaced this year, thanks to previous planning and saving through the five-year capital improvement plan.

Kadow, who serves on the district’s investment advisory committee, told residents about the financial strength of the district.

“District 5 is the wealthiest of the districts,” Kadow said, showing obvious pride.

CDD 5 has $14 million in investments.

“We watch every dollar,” he added.

Even in this rocky year on Wall Street, CDD 5 has enjoyed a positive performance, Kadow said.
