The Amenity Authority Committee has agreed to have an engineer look at the potential cost of upgrading and repairing a golf cart path in Community Development District 1.
CDD 1 Supervisor Craig Estep made a presentation Wednesday morning to the AAC asking for its help in restoring the path.
Estep lobbied AAC members in advance of Wednesday’s meeting, even taking members for a tour of the path in his golf cart, pointing out where the path is cracked and in need of repair.
Supporting Estep’s effort was Joan Testa of the Villages Homeowners Association who rallied the troops and packed the meeting room at Savannah Center with residents of the area.
AAC member Carl Bell called for the engineering study to determine the total cost for repair.
“I am personally in favor of making the whole path first class,” Bell said.
AAC member Lowell Barker noted delay could be costly.
“The longer we let it go, the more it’s going to cost,” Barker said.
Testa said she did not want to see the process for repair drag on for six months or a year.
But AAC Chair Ann Forrester cautioned they could make “no promises today.”
“We can’t give a yes or no to something without information from the engineer,” she said.
When CDD 1 discussed the issue last month, the initial estimate for repair was $100,000.
