William “Bill” Rahr, 82, passed away at his home at Spruce Creek South on August 13, 2015. He was born on April 11, 1933 to William and Virginia Doerge Rahr, who are deceased.
Bill graduated from Bellaire (Ohio) High School and The Ohio State University with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He was employed by Weirton Steel Corporation, Weirton, WV for 36 years and held the position of Chief Metalurgist upon retirement. Bill held the rank of Captain in the Army Ordinance Corp. He was a Mason and also a member of the Scottish Rite. While living in Florida for the past 22 years, Bill belonged to the Links of Spruce Creek Golf Club and was on the board of directors of the Hi Neighbor, a monthly newsletter in the community. He was also a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Ocala.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Kloreese Evans Rahr. They were married on March 8, 1958. Also surviving are his daughter Wendy (Tom) Lybarger of Clayton, OH; his son Dave (Theresa) Rahr of Waterford, CT; four grandchildren Frank (Jessica) Hathaway, Pamela Lybarger, Brad (Kori) Lybarger and Lauren Rahr; and three great-grandchildren Jordan, Keegan and Alexis.
The family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation to be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 10 to 11 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date.
