Memorial service set for assistant Lake County fire chief

Memorial services for Lake County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Jack Fillman, who passed away on July 30, will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 at Lake Receptions, 4425 N. U.S. Highway 19A, Mount Dora. The memorial service is open to the public, however guests wishing to pay their respects are asked to carpool due to expected parking limitations at the venue. Additionally, overflow parking will be available at AMVETS Post 1992, 32201 Amvets Way, Mount Dora.

The motorcade and memorial procession will begin at the Lake County Fairgrounds, located at 2101 County Road 452 in Eustis, head east along State Road 44 and turn south onto State Road 19 before reaching the venue on U.S. Highway 19A. Congestion along the route of the procession should be expected between 3:45 and 4:30 p.m., and heavy traffic around Lake Receptions could last through 7 p.m. Those not attending the service are asked to avoid the area between 3:45 and 7 p.m. if possible.

Flowers may be sent to Lake Receptions beginning at 10 a.m. on Aug. 8. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of Chief Fillman to:
