The Republican Federated Women of The Villages began its annual membership drive this week, inviting new members to join and current members to renew their membership during November and December for the full year 2015.
Glowing from the sweeping Republican victories across the nation, membership chairman, Barbara Qualls, said “Let’s get off to a great start in November.”
“The Federation of Republican Women is more than our local club,” Qualls said. “We are a part of state and national organizations. That is why FRW has such an influence across the nation. Part of our annual $25 dues go to support state and national FRW.”
“We have some great leadership in this club, but the most impressive part of being a member is to be associated with this dynamic group of Republican women. We made a difference in this election, and we hope to continue to have strong membership support.”
The club meets the second Thursday of each month at 10:00 A.M. at the Bacall Recreation Center, and plans are in the works to have a satellite meeting as well to work toward electing a Republican President in 2016. Meetings include key speakers and plan politically oriented events and trips.
Members of RFWTV made thousands of phone calls from the Republican Campaign Office during the weeks preceding the Nov. 4 election to discuss political issues and to encourage people to vote for the re-election of Florida’s conservative Republican Governor, Rick Scott. Scott won a second term by a slim margin over former Republican Governor, Charlie Crist. After serving as a Republican Governor, Crist switched from the GOP to being an ‘Independent,’ and then chose to run for governor again on the Democratic ticket, earning him the nickname ‘Weather Vane Charlie’ among his opponents.
“The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is ‘a little extra,” Qualls added.
