A 36-year-old Lady Lake man is free on $10,000 bond after leading a Lady Lake police officer on a brief chase Sept. 16.

An officer on patrol at Lady Lake Boulevard and Arlington Avenue observed a vehicle run a stop sign. The officer activated his lights to pull over the vehicle. As soon as the officer opened his door, the car took off.

The car continued on into a residential area of Shenandoah Avenue. The man, later identified as Shawn L. Armstrong ran away from the car, according to the report. The officer drew his taser and shouted at Armstrong to stop. Armstrong stopped and laid down on the ground. He was charged with driving with a suspended license and fleeing/eluding a police officer. He is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 13 in Lake County Court.
