The races put on Saturday by the Villages R/C Racing Club were more than an opportunity to salute legendary driver Buster Burt.

It was also an opportunity to show off the hobby they love and do a little lobbying.

The club’s Dave Allen invited members of the Amenity Authority Committee to come watch the event Saturday morning.

In February, the club approached the AAC about finding a home for the club.

The unofficial recommendation from the AAC was to have the club explore the possibility of finding a home south of County Road 466.

The AAC indicated at that meeting that the property under its jurisdiction is pretty full. An asphalt track didn’t seem like something for which there is room.

Allen chatted with Forrester for about 10 minutes Saturday morning.

“I am really glad she took the time to come and see what we’re about,” Allen said.

He said the club’s hope is that it might be allocated some space on the asphalt at one of the new recreation centers going up.
