A group of Villagers decided to have fun with their Christmas cards this year and had a full photo shoot Saturday morning at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square in complete costumes of the iconic band the Village People.
“We can’t wait for people to open their Christmas cards up north,” said Jackie Campbell of the Village of Calumet Grove.
They even hired a professional photographer.
Dressed as the construction worker, Jackie was lugging a ladder. To personalize the outfit, she had hairspray in her tool belt rather than a hammer.
Village of Gilchrist resident Sally Canna came dressed as a police officer while husband Bill was outfitted as the cowboy.
Village of Charlotte resident Leo Fontana came as the Indian chief while his wife Dee came dressed as a biker.
Dee’s mother, 91-year-old Virginia Nee, even got into the act donning a pinstripe suit and hanging a big golden dollar sign around her neck.
“She’s our manager,” Dee said.
Steve and Sissy Squillace of the Village of Pinellas got in a couple shots as alternates. Sissy came dressed as a Top Gun pilot. Steve came as a construction worker.
“Only in the Villages,” said Sally Canna.
Mother Nature even cooperated, giving the fun-loving Villagers a beautiful sun-splashed morning for the photo shoot.
