A burglary at The Villages Health-Colony Care Center on County Road 466A is under investigation.
A small amount of cash was taken from a drawer over the weekend at the medical facility.
“We want to put people’s minds at ease,” said Nehemiah Wolfe of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. “No medical records were touched in the break-in. The amount of cash taken was very small. The damage they did to the drawer was probably more costly than the amount of money taken.”
The investigation continues, Wolfe said.
