James Joseph Sloane obituary

James Joseph Sloane, 83, died Thursday, June 6, 2013.

Mr. Sloane was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to The Villages from Spring Lake, Mich., in 1998. He was an Army veteran and a retired group leader in the Engineering Department for General Motors.

He was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Community and a member of The Villages Photography Club.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; daughter, Kathy Wortman, Jenison, Mich.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 8:30 a.m on July 3 at St. Timothy Catholic Community, Lady Lake. A committal ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages.
