19-year-old Belleview man arrested after shots fired near school

A 19-year-old Belleview man was arrested Tuesday after a Marion County school was put on lockdown after shots were fired.

Just before 11 a.m.,Tuesday, a 911 dispatcher received a call of gun shots being fired in the area of 1 Oak Circle Lane in Ocala.  Emerald Shores Elementary School was immediately put on lockdown as a precaution, said Marion County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Judge Cochran. The school is located less than a half-mile from where the shots were heard.

Patrol units were soon able to find where the shots were being fired.

Deputies located Colby Wayne Car and Stacy Jo Burch, 42, of Ocala. During the investigation, Carr admitted he was outside with a friend shooting a 12-gauge shotgun and a 30-30 Rifle. Carr was arrested for violation of probation and Burch was arrested on a Sumter County warrant on a violation of probation.

By 11:50 a.m., the lockdown was lifted. No one was injured nor threatened.
