A Village of Hadley woman is seeking a court order for protection against an infatuated neighbor charged with firing 33 rounds at her house Monday evening.
Howard Sparber, 69, allegedly fired his Sig Sauer 9mm semi-automatic handgun Monday night at the woman’s home on Landale Loop. The bullets entered the home, some of them lodging in her kitchen cabinets. She was not home at the time.
Sparber, who had been drinking, admitted to a deputy investigating the incident that he had a “crush” on the woman.
The woman on Tuesday in Sumter County Court, formally filed a petition for protection against stalking. An injunction hearing will take place at 9 a.m. July 5 before Judge Michelle T. Morley.
Sparber, who is married, had previously tried to lure the woman into a hot tub at his home and persistently made sexual advances toward her, according to an arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He had also previously displayed his gun to the woman. For more on his arrest, click HERE.
Sparber and his wife bought their designer home in March 2008. The woman bought her home in November 2012.
