A 33-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly grabbed a man’s genitals during an altercation in the Village of Pennecamp.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at about 9:30 p.m. Monday to a home on Lake Ridge Drive where they found a man with his three-year-old child in the front yard. He told them he had struggled with Christin Leeberlan Carpenter over a cell phone and she had grabbed him by the genitals, according to an arrest report from the sheriff’s office. The man told deputies they were visiting The Villages. The man left the residence with the cell phone and Carpenter punched him and scratched him, the arrest report indicated. The man tried to remove the child from the residence and Carpenter continued to scratch at him.

The arrest report noted that Carpenter had been drinking.

Her parents had been present at the time, but said they only heard screaming and did not witness any physical blows.

Carpenter was arrested on a charge of battery and was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
