A Village of Springdale woman was arrested after she allegedly stole earrings from a jewelry store in Brownwood.

Rita Tanner, 64, reportedly entered Kylie’s Closet Jewelry Boutique on Brownwood Boulevard and took the earrings, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The owner of the store on Saturday had noticed items missing and reviewed security footage. It reportedly showed Tanner taking the earrings. She had used a credit card to pay for other items and the store owner supplied the footage and the name to police.

Tanner was arrested on a charge of shoplifting. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.

Tanner had been arrested in 2012 on charges of petit theft and resisting a merchant. She was able to avoid prosecution in that case when she entered into pre-trial diversion program.
