W. David Lockard, 89, The Villages, FL, died peacefully in the presence of his loved ones March 14, 2015. Born on March 1, 1926 in Houston, Texas, David served his country as a Marine during WWII, received his BA from Baylor University, and his Masters & Doctorate from Southwestern Seminary. David is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Sue (Susi) Lockard, their two children and spouses, Doug & Dee Lockard and Barbara & Billy White, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. David spent 15 years in Zimbabwe as President of Theological Seminary, 14 years training Baptist missionaries, and 10 years with the Christian Life Commission bringing awareness and teaching on race relations, world hunger, and biomedical ethics. He also wrote numerous publications, more notably authoring the book, The Unheard of Billy Graham. Spending the past 15 years in The Villages, FL, David enjoyed golf, oil painting, and fellowship with family and friends. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, his steadfast loyalty to his Lord and Savior, and his involvement in the new Brownwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brownwood Baptist Church designated to the Children’s Backpack Ministry, 850 South Main St. (Hwy 301), Wildwood, FL 34785. A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m., Friday, March 20th at Brownwood Baptist Church, 850 South Main St. (Hwy 301) Wildwood, FL 34785. An interment service will be at 1 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
