Wildwood woman who witnessed traffic stop arrested after monopolizing 911 line

Kaytia Michelle Edwards

A Wildwood woman who witnessed a traffic stop was arrested after monopolizing a 911 line.

Kaytia Michelle Edwards, 40, twice called 911 shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday after witnessing the traffic stop, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

Police officers were already on the scene when Edwards placed the calls. Each time she called 911, Edwards requested to speak with a supervisor.  She tied up 911 for four minutes and 21 seconds. She was not involved in the traffic stop, other than as a bystander, the report indicated.

She was arrested on a charge of misuse of 911 and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Last year, Edwards was arrested in the theft of two pairs of shorts from a mini-mart in Wildwood.
