Wildwood police to be armed with biometric scanners

The Wildwood Police Department will soon be armed with two biometric scanners that will be able to scan fingerprints and tie into the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database.

The Wildwood City Commission on Monday night approved the purchase of two Falcon Rapid ID Scanners for a total of $4,178.

Police Chief E.W. Reeser said the technology would be useful, particularly in cases of suspects trying to claim a false identity.
