A 57-year-old Wilwood man was arrested Tuesday by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly struck another man and grabbed his throat.
Deputies were called shortly after midnight to a location on County Road 125 after Mark Gregory Sams allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom and struck the other man and grabbed him by the neck and attempted to choke him, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A criminal history check showed that Sams had two prior convictions of battery in California in 1987 and 1994.
Sams was arrested on a felony charge of battery. He was booked on $2,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
