A Wal-Mart associate was arrested after allegedly helping himself to deli meals and Monster drinks.

Joseph Walter St. John, 20, of Summerfield, who was working at the Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza, had been spotted by a loss prevention officer taking a deli meal and an energy drink from the store without paying for them, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. It prompted the loss prevention officer to check video surveillance, and he found that St. John had snatched a deli meal and a Monster drink 10 times during the month of June. The total value of the items was $94.48.

The Connecticut native was arrested on 10 counts of petit theft.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting bond.
