Villagers who have played by rules angry about Hurricane Irma debris dumpers

Debris dumped at the postal station in the Village of Tamarind Grove.

Villager Sharon Borovay spotted the bags of debris from Hurricane Irma stacked up at the postal station at the Village of Tamarind Grove.

She had just one word for it.

“Shameful,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kathleen Kreidler and other Villagers spotted men who reportedly brought debris Tuesday evening to the postal station at the Village of Summerhill.

A Villager shot this photo of a man with debris at the Summerhill Postal Station.

“Several of us old folks told them they could not dump here, and when they saw that we took pictures, they left,” she said.

Villagers who have played by the rules and patiently waited for pick up, have indicated they are angry about debris dumping that has taken place at recreation centers and postal stations.

Village of Winifred residents, who have had Irma debris stacked for weeks in their driveways, were thrilled to see FEMA-approved haulers show up Thursday morning and start picking up piles of yard waste. As promised by the District Office, debris collection has begun south of County Road 466.

Debris was being collected Thursday morning in the Village of Winifred.

On Thursday, the District Office announced collection in Community Development Districts 5 and 6 is currently underway. Collection will continue through CDDs 5 – 8 and CDD 12 from north to south.
