Villager’s cat to be quarantined after biting vet tech at local animal hospital

A Village of Del Mar woman’s cat is being quarantined after biting a veterinary technician at a local animal hospital.

The 24-year-old technician had been attempting to weigh the three-year-old cat named Slick on Tuesday at Banfield Pet Hospital, which is located at PetSmart in Lady Lake. The cat “freaked out” and bit him on the right pinkie, according to an incident report on file with Lady Lake Animal Control.

The cat was properly vaccinated, the report noted.

The owner signed a home quarantine agreement and a copy of the agreement was faxed to the health Department.

Owners of animals involved in bites/exposures are required to quarantine their animal  for rabies observations for a minimum of 10 days.
