Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Villagers who pay for AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance policies Wednesday were informed it has launched a new Web site to help policyholders track online their health information and claims. The site also contains considerable content informing policyholders about their medical issues.
The notice from AARP and its UnitedHealthcare Co. insurance provider arrived in Villagers’ mailboxes. It notified policy holders that, “In just a couple of clicks, you can get an overview of your plan benefits, view claim and billing information, and quickly find forms or request plan materials such as a replacement insurance ID card.”
AARP’s Medicare Supplement plans, which help pay for expenses not covered by Medicare, are widely subscribed to in The Villages, administrators at medical facilities have said. As a result, most doctors’ offices and medical practitioner specialists here accept AARP’s supplemental insurance.
To sign on, policyholders need to click on http:/www.myAARPMedicare.com and register.
In addition to providing basic information about the policyholder’s health and doctors’ claims, an interactive site, called “My Health Reflection” provides information on specific health issues and makes wellness suggestions, covering subjects like weight and diet.
The no-charge service, which AARP/UnitedHealthcare assures will operate 24/7, includes links to Nurse HealthLine, which offers around-the-clock availability to a nurse for those needing to discuss health concerns. Another site, AARP Vision Discounts, offers savings on eyewear and routine eye exams. The site also includes templates to help users prepare a legal living will, and has links to information on specific medical issues of interest to users.
