A 72-year-old Village of De La Vista man has been jailed without bond following an alleged weekend attack on his fiance who was packing to leave.
Simon Doucet was booked early Saturday morning at the Sumter County Detention Center after Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called to his home on Hildalgo Drive.
Doucet’s fiance had gone to a neighbor’s house to call 911 after he took her phone, according to an arrest report from the sheriff’s office. She said Doucet slapped her twice in the face for drinking a glass of wine. She said he had also punched her when she returned to start packing a suitcase.
Doucet was arrested and transported to the sheriff’s annex where he began complaining about a blood pressure problem. EMS personnel were summoned and recommended transporting Doucet to the hospital as his blood pressure was double what it should be, the arrest report indicated. Doucet became angry and uncooperative indicating he did not want to go to the hospital. He was forcibly taken to The Villages Regional Hospital where he was evaluated and medically cleared.
He was then transferred to the jail.
He is facing charges of battery and resisting an officer.
