A Villager is facing a felony charge of aggravated battery after another Villager suffered two broken bones in a dispute involving their dogs.
Joan Claire Farwell, 56, who lives on Ivawood Way in the Village of Dunedin, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of aggravated battery stemming from an incident last month near the Whitney Villas.
A woman had arrived home on March 20 at her villa on Tambourine Terrace and was greeted at the door by her pet dogs. One of the dogs ran out into the street where Farwell was walking her dog, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Farwell yelled at the the woman to retrieve her dog, the report indicated. When the woman bent down to pick up her dog, Farwell shoved her and the woman fell to the ground, fracturing her wrist and pubic ramus. She was treated for her injuries at The Villages Regional Hospital. Three neighbors were witnesses and backed up the victim’s version of events.
Farwell was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $5,000 bond.
