Villager complains to her CDD board about the condition of swimming pool

A Villager complained to the Community Development District 2 Board of Supervisors on Friday about the condition of the El Santiago swimming pool.

Michele Grandusky said she felt she and her neighbors are getting the “short end of the stick” when it comes to the pool.

The pool is dirty and there is debris piled up nearby, Grandusky claimed.

Grout in between the tiles at the El Santiago pool.

It is particularly concerning to her because it is a family pool.

“People take their grandchildren there,” she told the board of supervisors.

She said there is grout built up between the tiles in the pool and there is “scum” on the pool walls.

A light cover has been missing at the El Santiago pool.

“It’s disgusting,” she said.

She said the cover that should have been over a light fixture has been missing for nearly a year.

Perhaps of most concern is a pile of debris that has been sitting in the parking lot. She said it has attracted rats.

The former New Jersey resident said she has been to other pools in The Villages and they seem to be clean.

Grandusky was told by the CDD 2 board they have no say over the pool, as it is an amenity. The pool is the responsibility of the Amenity Authority Committee.
