A 47-year-old Villager was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, telling a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy she had been at Spanish Springs Town Square trying to find a date.
The deputy was flagged down by a motorist at about 11 p.m. Thursday near the Lowe’s on U.S. Hwy. 27/441. The motorist alerted the deputy there was a blue SUV driving erratically in the parking lot. The deputy saw the vehicle and the driver was repeatedly honking the horn, according to the arrest report. The deputy made contact with the driver of the SUV in the Cracker Barrel parking lot where the vehicle was parked across several spaces.
Debra Marie Bellodi of the Village of Duval told the deputy she was coming from Spanish Springs Town Square where she had been trying to find a date, the arrest report indicated. She denied she had been drinking. She failed field sobriety exercises, the report noted.
She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where she took a breath test which measured readings of .247 and .246.
A computer check showed she had two prior DUI convictions in Pennsylvania.
She was charged with felony DUI with a third violation in 10 years and issued a verbal warning for improper horn usage and a parking violation at Cracker Barrel.
Bond was set at $5,000.
